I believe those of us who are Autistic are bridges. My gift is creating stepping stones that bridge ancient wisdom to practical application in the modern world.

  • Transformation through Heart Transmission.

    Right now your big, beautiful, Neurospicy brain is running the show, but what if I told you that your Neurospicy heart was just as powerful? “Shante Ishta” is a Cherokee word that translates to “the single eye of the Heart” and is used to describe heart wisdom. This Native American word refers to the heart’s ability to expand beyond the limitations of the mind and intuitively see and understand with compassion and clarity.

    The heart has its own intelligence, both spiritually and scientifically. There are around 40,000 neurons in the heart called cardiac afferent neurons, that not only regulate cardiac activity, but also influence our cognitive processes and send sensory information to our brains. Our hearts actually send more messages to our brains than our brains send to our hearts! To heal we must address the wounding in both our heart AND our brains. “Heart Brain Coherence” is the science behind the union between our hearts and brains and how this link, like the gut-brain link, influences homeostasis, neurochemistry and wellness.

    As Neurodivergent beings, we need time alone to regulate and process. We might not feel human, but we still have a primal need for connection that is hard to meet when your Limbic System is in the driver’s seat all the time. The more we rewire our brains and exit a place of constant fight or flight, the more the sensory overloads that prevented us from connecting with others fade away. For a long time I resisted needing human connection until my Autistic pattern recognition skills identified that I was low on oxytocin and other neurotransmitters that require human connection to fire. My healing journey came full circle when I reintegrated back into society and received the medicine of community! Don’t get me wrong, it was challenging and I felt awkward the entire time (2 years of incrementally stepping back into society), but the medicine was potent and my healing would not have been complete without connection - between my heart and brain and with other human beings.

    Together we will explore simple heart brain coherence mindfulness and meditation practices that shift your brain into a Gamma state. This is the brain state that monks and meditation masters enter to cultivate and control healing, homeostasis and immunity with their minds. Heart brain coherence is a major part of what I was guided to do in my NDEs and is an important pillar in the work we will do together. Our time together is not only about teaching you these tools, but also about being with another human being who sees you, understands you and is safe to drop the mask with. This is big heart medicine.

  • An overactive Limbic System is what creates symptoms and comorbidities.

    Those of us who are Neurodivergent are born wired in a way that is prone to chronic limbic system arousal and those of us who have experienced trauma often have Limbic System Impairment. These are nervous system states where we are stuck in fight or flight 24/7. When our internal alarm system is constantly sounding, our bodies pay the price.

    Understanding the role your limbic system plays in the conditions you have is the key to getting unstuck and activating your body’s natural healing ability.

    Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to change, adapt and heal. Your brain is constantly building new neural pathways and strengthening old neural pathways based on experience and repetition. Self-Directed Neuroplasticity is the process of using intentional techniques, exercises and activities to support your brain to build new positive neural pathways and weaken the ones contributing to an overactive fight or flight response. Through the intentional application of these techniques you can actually change the structure of your brain and alter the way your limbic system responds to stimuli and experience. Healing happens when we move out of a state of chronic stress (Sympathetic Nervous System activation) and into rest and digest (Parasympathetic Nervous System activation.)

    I specialize in teaching you how to use the science of Self-Directed Neuroplasticity in combination with the unique way you view the world; your pattern recognition skills, rigid thinking, special interests and gifts, to rewire your brain for healing. When Limbic System Impairment is addressed, chronic illness, allergies, depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD and Sensory Processing Disorder melt away!

  • Humanity has become too separate from Nature.

    Soil actually contains a bacterium that induces serotonin in our brains when we make contact with it! The sound of birds activates our parasympathetic nervous system because the primal part of ourselves remembers that this sound is a signal of safety indicating there are no predators around. Our mother, The Earth, has a heart beat called Schumann Resonance and it influences our brainwave activity, affecting mood, sleep, and other neurological and cardiovascular functions. 

    During the years I spent in solitude the plants and animals became my family. Plant medicine is an important part of the healing I share because it heals us on all levels - body, mind and soul. Nature reflects human experience, but when we are disconnected from it, we panic and forget that having seasons, having texture, storms, death and rebirth, succession and metamorphosis are a part of our design. When we reconnect with Nature, we are reconnecting with ourselves.  Plant medicine is found in every culture all over the world and has a way of awakening a remembrance of how to heal ourselves. The plants not only nourish us, but restore our connection to the land and trust in ourselves.

    When our brains are stuck in fight or flight, digestion becomes the body’s last priority. There are certain minerals and nutrients that are vital to the functioning of a Neurodivergent brain and overall wellness. Together we will explore how to use food as medicine and incorporate simple, safe herbal remedies like medicinal anti-inflammatory broth, adaptogenic teas, cacao, elderberry syrup, and flower essences to nourish the heart-gut-brain connection.  These plant allies assist in creating a sense of safety so your nervous system can relax into a restorative state.

    Being trauma informed means through both experience and education, I recognize the widespread impact of trauma and understand the paths to recovery. I recognize the signs, patterns and symptoms that indicate a history of trauma as well as someone being in a state of fight or flight. This knowledge of trauma is integrated into the practices I share and the delivery of how I share them to actively avoid re-traumatization. On my own journey, I struggled with practitioners who claimed they were “trauma informed” because they were healthcare professionals, but had never experienced or healed trauma themselves. I offer a unique library of tools that combine the wisdom I have gained from healing trauma myself as a Neurodivergent woman, as well as knowledge acquired from college psychology courses and the study of Polyvagal Theory, Neuroplasticity and Somatic Release.

    REWILD

    Can you remember a time, in your earliest memories perhaps, where you knew you were different, but didn’t care? All of our experiences are different, it’s okay if you can’t, but I think many of us instinctively knew what we needed to be happy, create balance and stay regulated before society, culture or family told us otherwise. Whether intentional or not, this early denial of our intuition conditioned us to doubt ourselves, to mask and retreat from the world. I believe those of us who are Neurocomplex are here to show the world by example what self care looks like and what authentic living really means. I believe we teach the world important lessons on purity, patience and non judgment. We are divine mirrors that reflect truth back to the world. Whether or not someone is pleased by their reflection was never our burden to carry, but somehow, amidst the self doubt and confusion as to why the rest of the world was not living authentically, we took this burden on. We have carried the projection of others with us for so long that many in our tribe have forgotten who they are. Rewilding is about unlearning the conditioning that planted the seed of self doubt in you. It’s about returning to your neurospicy roots and remembering what it looks and feels like to be unapologetically untamed. Through this remembering you uncover what you need now and build the confidence to do what you need to do to thrive and continue to identify and meet your needs in a way that serves your highest good. Wild animals don’t consider how following their instincts bothers others, they simply live in accordance with their nature! Flowers don’t ask permission to bloom! It is your birthright to be fearless and free too!

    I will teach you the tools you need to rewire your brain to weaken the old neural pathways that have kept you stuck in fight or flight and strengthen new ones that set you free so you can live in wellness and share your magic with the world. Together we will discover what your brain specifically needs to build these positive neural pathways and how to bypass the Psycho Cybernetic Mechanism (PCM), the brain’s change thermometer that sounds the alarm to your limbic system when too much change happens too quickly. A large part of rewiring your brain is about bringing the unconscious to the surface of consciousness and interrupting those old patterns once you recognize them and all their sneaky disguises. Brain rewiring is next level getting to know yourself! This process takes commitment, but your Neurodivergent gifts and pattern recognition will enable you to gain an expansive understanding of the way you are wired that will arm you with the ability to establish and maintain wellness for the rest of your life!

PREPARING FOR SESSIONS

The simplest definition of a shaman is “one who can see through the dark.” I am here to hold your hand as you journey through the dark, to witness your story, your growth and your first steps back into the light that is buried inside you! I am not a licensed psychologist or doctor. I want to be clear that the verbal processing of trauma is not a part of the work we will do together. It is not uncommon for emotions to surface as you journey inward and begin to apply the knowledge of Neuroplasticity, and explore movement and mindfulness. This is a normal part of awakening, healing and getting back into your body, of being and taking up space intentionally. I hold space for these moments and will adjust the session/practice based on what I observe and what you express. Your voice will always be heard and honored in the safe space we create together each session. You are encouraged to communicate what you need, request a break or different style of communication as needed, or talk with your therapist after sessions.
